IT Interns - Pretoria (Technology Centre) ( 85 and 86 for temps ) 

Sappi Southern Africa is looking for two IT Interns in order to provide the incumbents with the necessary skills and specific competencies and assist in executing related activities across the designated region. 

REPORTING TO: IT Service Desk Supervisor 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

Investigate, analyse and provide solutions to technical problems. 
Assist in the implementation of all network equipment and upgrades. 
Provide service and maintenance of all computers at the business unit. 
Assist and attend to all IT Service desk queries. 
Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email. 
Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions 
Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by the end users 
Walk the customer through the problem-solving process 
Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel 
Provide accurate information on IT products or services 
Record events and problems and their resolution in logs on the Service Desk System (TOPdesk) 
Follow-up and update all logs 
Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures 

KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS 

Technology Management 
Attention to detail 
Accurate under pressure 
Applications: Microsoft Office Suite 
Effective communication skills 
Problem solving and decision making 

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE 

Matric with relevant MCSE/ IT or equivalent qualification 
No experience required 
Proficient in MS Office ( Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
